Dr. Lana Shehadeh, Director of International and Academic Relations at the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the �鶹��ýAV, has visited Shenandoah University in the US state of Virginia and met with the university’s president, Dr. Tracy Fitzsimmons.

The visit revolved around examining opportunities to expand academic and research cooperation at various levels between the two universities, as the university had previously signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperative efforts and strengthening the international partnership between the two universities.

During the visit, Dr. Shehadeh gave a speech in which she addressed the reality of life in Palestine, especially in light of the events facing the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which are reflected in the economic and social reality.

The �鶹��ýAV and the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom have signed a cooperation agreement with the aim of enhancing medical cooperation between the two universities in an important step and as a continuation of the University’s endeavor to enhance scientific and academic cooperation with leading institutions inside and outside Palestine. This agreement aims also at training medical students from the �鶹��ýAV on University of Glasgow’s campus in the UK.

The agreement was signed by Professor Mohammad Asia, Vice President of the �鶹��ýAV, and on behalf of the University of Glasgow, Mrs. Rachel Sandison, Vice Chancellor of the University for External Cooperation and Deputy Dean of External Relations. The signing took place in the United Kingdom with the presence of Dr. Malik Zaben, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Baraa Asfour, Vice President for Financial and Administrative Affairs, and Professor Matthew Waters, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing at the University of Glasgow.

Professor Mohammad Asia stated that this agreement comes within the University’s endeavor to build associations with a number of universities in the United Kingdom to contribute to the development of scientific and medical cooperation. "The �鶹��ýAV is interested in providing significant opportunities for medical students to gain valuable clinical experiences and practical training that helps them develop their medical skills through direct communication with a distinctive medical environment", he added.

In turn, Mrs. Rachel Sandison expressed the importance of this agreement and said: “This cooperation will create important opportunities to provide specialized academic teaching and training in addition to the exchange of students between the two universities.” “As an international university, Glasgow has a diverse network of global partnerships that provide opportunities for our students, colleagues and partners to enrich their educational, teaching and research experiences”, she added.

Dr. Malik Zaben, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the �鶹��ýAV, said: “This agreement provides opportunities for the exchange of professors and students and cooperation in research and many other areas of common interest.” He also pointed out that the training will enable students to learn about the latest practices and techniques in the field of medicine, which will enhance the quality of education as well as scientific and medical qualification.

Dr. Bara Asfour stressed that the �鶹��ýAV is very interested in strengthening relations with important universities and institutions at the local and international levels, and that this agreement comes as a culmination of its ongoing efforts in this field. "We are proud to partner with one of the most important universities in the United Kingdom, and we seek to extend this agreement to include additional aspects in the near future", Dr. Asfour added.

For his part, Professor Matthew Watters said: “The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Glasgow is proud of this partnership with the �鶹��ýAV in Palestine to enrich the educational experiences of students at the two academic institutions.”

"In the first phase of this cooperation, Glasgow is hosting a group of students to attend a medical summer school that will provide them with the experience of medical education in the United Kingdom and clinical practice. We look forward to hosting them and to further developing our partnership in the future", he added.

The �鶹��ýAV Palestine, represented by the University Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Bara Asfour, and the Specialty Hospital in Jordan, represented by the General Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri, have signed an agreement of training and academic cooperation, at the hospital’s headquarters in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

The agreement stipulates the exchange of scientific and practical experiences between the two parties, accrediting the Specialty Hospital in Amman as one of the educational and training centers for students of the Faculty of Medicine at the University, and providing distinguished, experienced and qualified specialists in teaching, scientific research and training for students of the Faculty of Medicine. Administrative exchange was also agreed upon between the University and the Specialty Hospital.

Dr. Malik Zaben, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University, explained the importance of this agreement with the Specialty Hospital being known for its development, as it will train students of the Faculty of Medicine at the University, by skilled specialists. He pointed out the University’s constant endeavor to sign agreements with local and Arab medical institutions in order to provide medical students with high-level education.

For his part, Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri, Director General of the Specialty Hospital, welcomed the guests and appreciated their distinguished efforts in supporting university students whose universities were destroyed in the Gaza Strip. He stressed that the Specialty Hospital will continue to support our people in Palestine, and that the hospital is fully willing to provide the students with the necessary training opportunities and programs to ensure quality education outcomes as the Specialty Hospital is a teaching hospital accredited by the Jordanian Medical Council and the Arab Medical Council for Health Specialties since 2006. It is also accredited by the Higher Education Accreditation Commission and includes the Specialized Training Center, which provides all basic and advanced life support programs.

The agreement was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University, Dr. Malik Zaben, and the Dean of Student Affairs at the University, Dr. Fadi Jumaa, and from the Specialty Hospital, the Assistant Director General, Dr. Riyad Al-Sharqawi, the Medical Director, Dr. Hani Al-Kurdi, and the Director of Medical Training and Education, Dr. Saleh Al-Araj as well as the head of the Specialized Training Center, Mr. Louay Sahawneh.

As part of its constant efforts to develop the field of medical education, enhance health care, and prepare and qualify medical personnel, the �鶹��ýAV and the Istishari Hospital in Amman / Jordan signed a cooperation agreement. This agreement aimed at training medical students enrolled at AAUP on its Ramallah and Jenin campuses. This is for the sake of improving the provision of therapeutic and preventive medical services and preparing as well as qualifying medical staffs.

The �鶹��ýAV was represented by the Vice President for the Ramallah Campus, Professor Mohammad Asia, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Malik Zaben, while the Istishari Hospital was represented by the General Director, Dr. Tariq Al Lawzi, and the Medical Director, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Obeila.

The scope of the agreement includes accrediting the Istishari Hospital in Amman as an educational and training center for students of the Faculty of Medicine at the �鶹��ýAV, where qualified and experienced medical specialists will be available for the purposes of education, scientific research and training. Staffs will also be invited to attend workshops, conferences and training courses organized by both parties.

Professor Mohammad Asia stressed the importance of this agreement as an important step towards achieving a strategic partnership with the Istishari Hospital in Amman, emphasizing the University’s commitment to developing medical education and providing high levels of quality. He said: “This partnership comes within our continuous endeavor to develop the academic programs and their practical outcomes inside and outside Palestine.”

In turn, Dr. Malik Zaben pointed out the importance of highly enhancing the skills of medical students to contribute to improving the health services provided to the community, praising the medical staff and expertise working at the Istishari Hospital in Amman and the positive impact it will have on students’ skills.

For his part, Dr. Tariq Al Lawzi praised the reputation of the �鶹��ýAV, and stressed that this agreement fulfills the Hospital’s vision of cooperating with distinguished scientific institutions locally and internationally in order to reduce the gap between scientific education and practical training. Al Lawzi emphasized that the agreement will provide students with the opportunity to benefit from the high-level training at the Istishari Hospital in Amman.

It is worth noting that the �鶹��ýAV offers a specialization in medicine to its students on its Ramallah and Jenin campuses, and seeks through these agreements to strengthen its position as a leading educational institution in the field of medicine in the region.

The President of the �鶹��ýAV, Professor Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company, Engineer Dr. Mahmoud Al Zalmot, signed an agreement of partnership and strategic cooperation between the two parties. This agreement aims at supporting the efforts paid to find harmony between educational outcomes and the needs of the Palestinian market, as well as adopting initiatives and ideas for pioneering projects that support innovation in Palestine.

The signing ceremony, which was held at Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company’s headquarters in Nablus, was attended by the AAUP Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muayad Abusaa, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Hatem Hijaz, and the General Manager of Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company, Dr. Adeeb Al Saifi.

The two parties agreed to develop human capital and resources, exchange scientific and practical competencies and experiences, as well as develop practical and scientific methodologies and mechanisms to develop the health and pharmacy sector in Palestine. This is to be done by creating mechanisms for exchanging ideas, experiences and information, and by investing in the capabilities available to the University and the Company.

The two parties have also agreed to provide all capabilities in the fields of scientific and applied research and practical training for students, in a way that serves industrial development, helps in developing the partnership between the two parties, and provides practical training opportunities for relevant students, in addition to some graduation projects at the Company.

The AAUP President, Professor Dr. Abu Zuhri, stressed the importance of this agreement with Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company, which is known for its professionalism and its constant pursuit of development and competition. The �鶹��ýAV and the Hclinic Specialty Hospital signed a joint cooperation agreement to train students of the Faculty of Medicine enrolled at the University on its Ramallah and Jenin campuses. The University was represented by the Vice President of the Ramallah Campus, Professor Mohammad Asia, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Malik Zaben, while the hospital was represented by its Medical Director, Dr. Jihad Mishal, and the Director of Personnel Affairs, Hadeel Sawafta.

The terms of the agreement revolve around providing a high level of training to medical students in the clinical stage and before by the most skilled specialist doctors at Hclinic Specialty Hospital in the departments of internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, gynecology, obstetrics, and specialized departments of orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, emergency, anesthesia, and diagnostic radiology.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asia stressed that this agreement is an important step towards achieving a strategic partnership with Hclinic Specialty Hospital. He stated “Signing this agreement comes in the context of the University’s endeavors to developing medical education according to high levels of quality, and we seek to adopt the best modern educational means and methods in medicine.”

For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the �鶹��ýAV, Dr. Malik Zaben stressed the importance of providing medical students with high-quality practical skills. He said “We seek to develop the Faculty of Medicine and support its students and staff. The quality of training will contribute to improving the reality of services and health care provided to citizens in Palestine.”

In turn, Dr. Jihad Mishal said “The administration and doctors of the Hclinic Specialty Hospital believe in the importance of giving the best training opportunities and special attention to future doctors. As such, improving the capabilities and knowledge of medical students is the true indicator of the advancement of the health sector and the quality of services.”

In a pioneering step towards developing the education and health services sector, the �鶹��ýAV has signed a strategic memorandum of cooperation with ASTEMIED Company for Medical and Hearing Solutions.

The agreement was signed with the presence of the University’s Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Bara Asfour, the University’s Vice President for Ramallah Campus, Professor Mohammad Asia, and the Director of Administration and Operations of ASTEMIED Company, Mr. Mustafa Obaidi.

Professor Mohammad Asia said that this agreement represents an important step in the University’s endeavor to achieve educational excellence and provide high-quality learning opportunities through the use of the latest and best educational and technological means. He added: “The importance of this agreement lies in the qualitative addition to the services provided by the Hearing and Speech Center on the University’s campus in Jenin, which was established in 2020 as part of the integrated rehabilitation services in the University Medical Rehabilitation Complex.”

The President of the �鶹��ýAV, Professor Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, the Director General of the Hassib Sabbagh IT Center of Excellence at the University, Engineer Mays Awad, the Director of Planning, Research and Development at Alpha Omega Engineering Company, Mr. Nabil Sakran, and the Director of the company’s branch in Jenin, Mr. Feras Omar, signed a cooperation and experience exchange agreement between the University and the company, in addition to opening a unit for the company on the University campus.

The two parties agreed to build a strategic relationship, joint cooperation, and exchange of experiences as well as benefiting from them, in addition to opening a research and development unit affiliated with Alpha Omega Engineering Company in the Hassib Sabbagh IT Center of Excellence building at the �鶹��ýAV. This agreement aims at creating a distinguished model based on the integration of the role of the Palestinian private sector with national educational institutions in the field of neuro-medical programming and technology through joint work to integrate students and university graduates into a quality work environment as well as in various training and employment projects and programs.

The two parties also agreed to prepare training programs for students of medical specializations, computer engineering sciences, and biomedical engineering, in addition to organizing scientific workshops and specialized lectures for the University students. Member of the Board of Directors of the Hassib Sabbagh IT Center of Excellence, Mr. Joseph Haddad, on behalf of the Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors and Secretary General of Caritas Jerusalem, Antoun Asfar, signed a memorandum of understanding for scientific and technical cooperation between the two parties with the presence of the Center’s Director General, Eng. Mays Awwad. Signing this MOU came under the framework of the “Tamasak” program implemented by Caritas Jerusalem in Jenin Governorate in partnership with Caritas Belgium International and funded by the Belgian Cooperation Foundation and Caritas France.

The �鶹��ýAV, represented by the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Bara Asfour, and Asal Technology Company, represented by its General Manager, Mr. Murad Tahboub, signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement aims at exchanging experiences and benefiting from the company, and building a strategic relationship, through which Asal Company will open a branch on AAUP campus in Jenin.

The agreement includes building a strategic relationship and joint cooperation, exchanging experiences. To facilitate this, Asal Technology Company opens a branch of on the �鶹��ýAV to create a distinguished model based on the integration of the role of the Palestinian private sector with educational institutions in the field of programming and information technology sector in Palestine in addition to joint work to integrate students and graduates of the university into a qualitative work environment. The agreement aims also to engage the graduates in various training and employment projects as well as the programs offered by Asal Technology to find and enable experienced and technically qualified Palestinian programmers to implement software solutions, information and communication technology, research and development.

The signing of the agreement was preceded by a meeting between the President of the �鶹��ýAV, Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, and the company’s delegation headed by the General Manager of Asal Technology Company, Mr. Murad Tahboub. The meeting was attended also by the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Bara Asfour, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muayad Abusaa, dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Hazem Khanfar, dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Dr. Muhammad Marei, director of the Hassib Sabbagh IT Center of Excellence, Dr. Mays Awwad, and the Assistant Professor in the Faculties of Engineering and Information Technology, Dr. Moath Sabha.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abu Zuhri, welcomed the attendees, and stressed the importance of cooperation with the Asal Technology Company, which will open new horizons. He welcomed the opening of a branch of the company on the university campus, and gave a full explanation about the University, its establishment, and the academic programs offered in doctoral, master’s bachelor degrees.

For his part, the General Manager of Asal Technology Company, Mr. Murad Tahboub, expressed his happiness for the cooperation with the university, and pointed out that the company's mission is to raise the level of technology in Palestine, and support technological and digital innovations towards an international level. He states that this will only happen in cooperation with the �鶹��ýAV to achieve the ambitions and goals pursued by the company.

In turn, the Vice President of the University for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Bara Asfour, emphasized that the university is heading towards technology and leadership and its motto is always excellence, He explained that there are common goals between the university and the company to achieve and herein lies the importance of signing the agreement between the two parties.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Asfour and Mr. Tahboub cut the ribbon for the inauguration of the branch of the Asal Technology Company in the building of the Hassib Sabbagh IT Center of Excellence at the �鶹��ýAV.
