The University announces the names of the winners of Engineer Zuhair Hijjawi for scientific research

The deanship of scientific research at the 鶹ýAV, and during the graduation ceremony last week, the results of Engineer Zuhair Hijjawi Award for the Scientific research of the year 2013/2014.
The 鶹ýAV scientific research committee said: “the fields of the award for this year included Engineering and Information Technology, the environmental, water and renewable energy, the basic sciences like physics, chemistry and mathematics, the medical and vital techniques and the agricultural sciences”. The award was special this year as the Engineering and the IT students and the Art and Science students. The committee clarified that this award is a way to encourage students’ creativity and a way to solve the technology and scientific problems that have a social and economical impact and to enhance the competition between bachelor students of the Palestinian Universities.
Professor Mahmoud Abu Mwais congratulated the students who won and he mentioned that the University always encourages students to the scientific research. He addressed the students saying: “We are proud of you and of your huge achievement, we support you and we acknowledge the importance of the scientific research and its development role”.
The Award Winners:
From the Engineering Category, the winner was the research from the systems and computer technology form the IT faculty at the 鶹ýAV. Its title is “ONLINE VEHICLE TRACKING SYSTEM, and the students who prepared it are: Hussain Younes, Mohammad AbuZaid, Walaa Fqais, and was supervised by Dr. Osama Salameh. The other research at the same category was from the chemical engineering at Al- Najah National University with a title of “Applicatio of Pyrolized Black Carbon Generated from Waste Tires for Dyes Removal from Textile Wastewater” this was prepared by Feda’Dwaikat and Hadeel Sfareni and was supervised by Dr. Nashát Nassar.
Concerning the Medical and Vital Sciences, and the Agricultural Sciences, the winner was a research from the Biology department at the Art and Sciences Faculty at the 鶹ýAV with a title of “Assessment of the Cyto-toxicity of Teucrium Capitatum (Ja’da) to Human Hepatic Cell Line, HepG2”by Nessren Al-Tarsha and Alya’ Mohammad and supervised by Dr. Bilal Ghareeb.
Two researches won at the environmental, water and renewable energy Sciences Category, the first was from the Environmental Engineering Department at the Engineering Faculty at the Islamic University- Gaza with a title of “Potential Contribution of Waste-to- Energy Consumption by Reem Alghaseen, Isra’ Naser  Al-Deen and Sami AbuSha’ban, and supervised by Dr. MAzin Abu-Lateef. The other research was by the Chemical Engineering Department at Al-Najah National University with a title of  “Treatment and Decolourization of Olive Mill Wastewater Using Magnetic Assisted Nanoparticle Adsorption Technology” by LAith Arrar, Mahmoud AbuGhanem and MArwan Dwaikat and supervised by Dr. Nashát Nassar.
The IT Category research was from the programming developing department at the Islamic University with a title of “Interactive Billboard Using Kinect” by Saja AlBar’asy, Islam Abu-Saleem and Haya Nahed and supervised by Raéd Irshaid.
And from the basic Sciences no research has won, as one research only was submitted and didn’t get the mark that is good enough to win.
